FAQ

What should be understood by the term „voluntary products certification”?

The basic assessment of the product’s compliance with the specified normative requirements rests primarily with the supplier/manufacturer. This is self-esteem. A typical example of this is the manufacturer’s declaration of conformity for CE marking.

Product certification is the act by which a certification body, competent and independent of the supplier and recipient, provides written assurance that a properly identified product complies with the requirements specified in the normative documents. Voluntary certification is therefore an action verifying and authenticating supplier declarations. The declaration of conformity issued by the certification body confirming compliance with the applicable specified requirements (contained in standards and other normative documents) is usually in the form of a certificate of conformity. With selected certification programs, the manufacturer is entitled to use the registered mark of the certification body (e.g. ENEC 28).

Voluntary certification is carried out at the request of producers, actual or potential recipients, including organizations that carry out tenders and / or public orders, consumers, etc.

What does it mean for a manufacturer to certify products in surveillance system or without?

Some of certification schemes may include product pre-testing and initial inspection or assessment of quality management systems at the production site, followed by surveillance of periodic and/or control tests of samples taken from the production and/or the market. Product control tests are carried out to check whether products manufactured after the issuance of the certificate still meet the specified requirements. The annual routine inspection is aimed at confirming that the producer maintains the correct production process at a level confirmed by a pre-license inspection.

Certification without surveillance consists in testing the product delivered to demonstrate compliance with the specified requirements of the standard or other normative document and issuing the certificate. The program of this type does not carry out any activities after issuing the certificate of conformity with regard to the manufactured products. Subsequent manufactured products are not covered by the issued certificate.

What is the procedure for starting testing in BBJ? What should you do?

The product for testing should be submitted in electronic form to the address bbj@bbj.pl providing your address data and attaching the following attachments:

  • product catalogue data sheets
  • assembly, operation and maintenance instructions – if required
  • list of elements and components used in the product
  • copies of certificates, confirming compliance with the relevant subject standard, for components used in the product
  • picture of the product
  • assembly drawings, block diagrams and assembly scheme – if required

Your message will be forwarded to the leading specialist who will contact you. Having received the technical documentation, he will answer the additional questions precisely and prepare an initial offer.

At the same time, we would like to inform you that at every stage of our cooperation, we guarantee confidentiality. Your technical documentation is secure; only authorized persons have access to it.

Then we will ask you to complete and sign the request-order. The delivery of samples selected for testing and the acceptance of an offer including costs and realization term are the reason for starting tests.

When does the certificate lost the validity?

The certificate lost validity if:

  •  there is any change in the subject standard

it is then necessary to perform additional tests or a full type testing of the product and issue a new certificate – each case is considered separately

  • there is a change in the product

the possibility of performing additional tests and issuing a certificate

  • there is a change in the place of production

inspection is needed at the new production site

  • there is a negative result of control tests and a negative result of corrective actions

first, the certificate is suspended, in the extreme case it is canceled

All costs connected with additional tests, issuance of a new certificate or inspection at the place of production are borne by the certificate holder.
